Gin Off – And the winner is…..
More than 100 customers flocked to Fodder last week for our first ever loyalty event which had to be – a gin off!
We are surrounded by so many fabulous ranges of gin, we knew it would be a hit with our customers… and our suppliers enjoyed it too.
Masons Gin, Whittaker’s, Raisthorpe Manor, Sloe Motion and The Little Red Berry all went head to head in a bid to be Fodder’s first ever Gin Off Champion!
Customers sampled each one and voted for their favourite.
The votes were counted and it was a close call but coming out top in the battle of the bottles was (drum roll please) Whittaker’s Gin – Pink Peculier.
Distilled in Nidderdale by Toby Whittaker and his family, this contemporary gin is no stranger to awards as last year it took home the title of Best Contemporary European Craft Gin.
We like to think of this artisan gin as a classic with a twist as it comprises strong signature tastes of pink peppercorns, pink hibiscus and cardamon with a hint of lemon zest and Yorkshire thyme. The word ‘peculier’ means one of a kind in Danish and, as gin originates from Holland, we couldn’t agree more.
Coming a close second was the Elderflower and Cucumber Gin from The Little Red Berry Company which is owned by husband and wife duo Rachel and Rob. This refreshing flavoured gin is bottled at Copt Hewick, near Ripon and is handmade made using Yorkshire cucumbers and organic elderflower cordial.
There is no surprise that this gin came second in our gin off as it’s a Fodder favourite; our perfect summer drink.
We have more exciting events planned for this year so keep an eye on the Fodder events page or subscribe to our newsletter to get the latest information.
We hope we will see you soon!
