Love Lamb Week
Get British lamb back on your plate and celebrate this locally sourced meat with great cuts and fantastic recipes as it is Love Lamb week.
From the 1st to the 7th September we are showing our love for lamb and encouraging our customers to cook with this delicious tasty meat.
The lamb we sell at Fodder is reared in Stainforth by the Liddle family – only an hour’s drive from us!
Our Head Butcher Ben regularly takes a trip to the farm to ensure only the best cuts make it to our butchery counter and on to your plate.
How to Cook
There is nothing quite like a lamb roast dinner (in our opinion) so here are our handy tips to ensure your joint comes out perfect every time –
- Remember to weigh the lamb before you start preparations so you can calculate your preferred cooking time.
- Position the oven shelves so the lamb joint cooks in the centre of the oven. Cook on a medium heat for slightly longer to ensure even cooking.
- Place the joint uncovered on a wire rack and face the fattest part of the meat upwards to allow the juices to run down the joint and baste it naturally.
- Allow the joint to rest for 5-10 minutes after cooking to let the meat fibres relax and juices distribute evenly so the joint is moist and easier to carve.
