Café Assistant – Fodder

 Hours of work – Full and part time hours during the day Monday to Sunday.

Job Purpose – To work diligently in a dedicated team that provides customers with food and drinks with exceptional service.

Principal Duties:

  • Welcoming customers.
  • Take customer food and drinks orders, efficiently and pleasantly.
  • Offer prompt and accurate and friendly service.
  • Prepare the café for service; restocking, cleaning etc.
  • Be competent with menu items and ingredients to ensure customers receive the correct information.
  • Ensure food is served professionally.
  • Use all equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Prepare hot and cold drinks for customer orders.
  • Ensuring that all comments or complaints are responded to appropriately and reported to the manager, in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for presenting bills and dealing with payments, operates the tills and credit card machine to ensure payments are correct.
  • To work hygienically and efficiently, following company protocols including adhering to cleaning schedules etc proactively carrying out required tasks.
  • Observe all legislative requirements including those concerning hygiene, food, health and safety at work.
  • To work effectively to ensure the department achieves its aims and objectives.
  • To be available to work occasional evenings, as required.
  • Undertake all tasks as directed by a Manager when required, this may include working in departments of Fodder.
  • To be a proactive team member and communicate well with all colleagues.
  • It is the duty of all staff to observe all legislative requirements including those concerning fire, food hygiene, and health and safety at work. Each member of staff should eliminate hazards to safety and to health, and where this cannot be done the hazards should be reported.
  • Attend team meetings as required.
  • Attend training as required.
  • Any other appropriate duties which may be added from time to time.

Butcher (full experienced or trainee apprentice butcher)

To help run an efficient, friendly and successful butchery counter. To prepare meat and help sell it, break down the carcase into various cuts and make sausages and burgers plus other ready to cook products.

Main Accountabilities

  • Help run a successful Butchery department including;
    • Setting up the counter
    • Helping and serving customers
    • Butchering from full carcase to smaller cuts and making sausages etc
    • Being committed to ensuring that Fodder’s butchery counter is the best in the UK
    • Assisting with stock rotation, cleaning and working safely
    • Butchery is changing and we need someone who is creative, innovative and understands the changing customer trends.
    • Help prepare all meat requirements for our café and take away.

Shop Assistant

Hours of work – Full and part time hours during the day Monday to Sunday.

Job Purpose

 To be an energetic team member who, replenishes the shelves and fruit and vegetables, rotates stock, merchandises the products well, offers customers great service, packs customers products skilfully, use the till system and handles payments accurately, all whilst building rapport with the customer and handling any questions or complaints.

 

Principal Duties

 

  • To greet customers politely and offer the very best service to each and every customer.
  • Answer enquiries from customers about the products in the shop including ingredients and methods of food production.
  • Be fit and active as this is a physically demanding job.
  • Ensuring stock on the shelves is rotated according to date.
  • Deal with the deliveries to ensure these are checked off and dealt with straight away.
  • Deal with any queries or problems to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Pack customers purchases correctly and efficiently.
  • Deal with payments, operate the tills and credit card machine to ensure payments are correct.
  • Be interested in people and food and have an engaging personality.
  • Ensure that all aspects of environmental health, health and safety, food, fire and other legislation is adhered to.
  • Be happy to work in a culture where safety and food hygiene is a priority.
  • Ensure that all shop tasks and procedures are completed daily.

Chef Supervisor – Fodder on the Hoof

Hours of work – 40 hours per week working 5 out of 7 operational days of the week with additional hours in mornings/evenings and weekends as an essential feature of the role.

Job Purpose – To proactively manage the day to day running of ‘Fodder on the Hoof’, Organising the rota and the food prep, cooking and selling delicious food and drinks, with great customer service.  You will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic chef, who knows what the customers want and how to respond to the weather with specials from soup to milkshakes.  You will be passionate about great food and great customer service and be commercially minded.

Principal Duties:

  • Ensure that all dishes are presented to the highest standard in terms of freshness and flavour and in a timely manner.
  • Have a good understanding of margins and sales.
  • Work with Head chef to update the menu seasonally and use stock surpluses and use them to prepare daily specials.
  • Have a good understanding of food trends to continually strive to offer new seasonal ideas to keep the menu exciting.
  • Be a Barista and make amazing milk shakes too.
  • Offer all customers amazing customer service, actively welcome customers and create a positive experience.
  • Be prepared to work hard in a small but close team and share their passion for great food and service.
  • Control and order the consumables necessary to operate the Hoof, being both environmentally and cost aware.
  • To understand the Fodder ethos of promoting the best Yorkshire products
  • Keep accurate ingredient and allergen information to keep customers informed and safe.
  • Correctly package and serve food, safely, efficiently and consistently.
  • Carefully manage stock levels and stock rotation, ensuring all food is correctly dated and stored.
  • Proactively follow all the EHO requirements and cleanliness standards to run a safe operation.
  • Prepares hot and cold drinks for customer orders.
  • Take orders and money to offer a prompt and accurate service.
  • In quiet periods, help the kitchen with tasks that can be undertaken in Fodder on the Hoof.
  • Train and manage other Fodder on the Hoof staff.
  • Keep inside and outside of Airstream clean and tidy; observe and adhere to daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
  • Communicate well with managers, chefs and all other colleagues.
  • Ensure any equipment is used efficiently and safely.
  • Ensure that all comments or complaints are resolved and reported to the Head chef.
  • Observe all legislative requirements including those concerning fire, food hygiene, and health and safety at work.
  • Attend mandatory and other training as required.
  • Undertake other job-related tasks as required.

Experience required – The Chef must be a great, enthusiastic, and versatile cook, who understands fresh food and flavours and has considerable experience in working within a busy team to run successful food service.

Deputy Shop Manager

Hours of work –40 hours per week working 5 out of 7 operational days of the week with additional hours in mornings/evenings and weekends as an essential feature of the role.

Job Purpose – To assist in all aspects of running a successful shop and working being a strong team member for the good of Fodder.  Passionate about great food and great customer service.

Principal Duties:

  • To assist the Shop Manager in running a successful shop offering top quality products and customer service.
  • To be acting Shop Manager in their absence.
  • Help achieving shop financial targets, including sales and margins
  • To understand and oversee all aspects of stock (merchandising, rotation, wastage etc). Be commercially minded and make suggestions for improvements in the business.
  • To become fully conversant on Eureka our specialist software (training can be given)
  • To handle cash, tills, change and cashing up with necessary reporting.
  • To open and lock Fodder, as rota.
  • To be responsible for some ordering of products
  • To fully understand and help execute Fodder ethos.
  • To be an active team member of Fodder; passionate about working together and be a good communicator and role model.
  • To manage and motivate shop and Deli staff to offer superb customer care and train team in offering great service. Along with other relevant staff, induct, train and provide ongoing support to all Fodder staff.
  • To help ensure that sickness, overtime levels and the costs of overtime remain within reasonable limits.
  • Help plan rota’s and set according to business needs
  • Help plan events
  • Train, lead and inspire shop team and help them welcome new systems as we develop the business.
  • Assist in ensuring that Fodder excels in all aspects of Health and Safety
  • Understanding and maintaining the highest EHO standards and Food Hygiene Legislation and that all working practices and processes reflect best practice.
  • To be a first aider and a personal licence holder.
  • To assist in other departments in Fodder, as required.

Experience required – The Deputy Shop Manager will have considerable experience in customer service, managing staff and food retailing.  They must also be interested in making the most out of computer software and processes for the betterment of the business.
